Medicine, by definition, means to heal. While nourishment of the physical body is essential, we also believe that supporting the energetic and emotional aspects of ourselves is equally important to overall wellness. Across many traditional cultures, healing has long been understood as a balance between body, mind, spirit, and the unseen energies that move through all living things. The foods we eat, the herbs we work with, the scents we breathe, and the natural environments we surround ourselves with can all influence not only our physical health, but also our emotional clarity, sense of grounding, vitality, and inner balance.

We believe that nature provides more than simple nutrition — it offers connection, restoration, and harmony. Many plants have traditionally been respected not only for their nutritional or medicinal value, but also for their ability to calm the nervous system, uplift the spirit, encourage rest, support resilience, and help restore a deeper sense of wellbeing. Within Mayan traditions and other ancestral healing practices, certain plants and tree resins are also valued for their energetic and spiritual properties. Copal, for example, has long been used ceremonially for cleansing, prayer, grounding, and purification, while Soapnut has traditionally been associated with energetic cleansing and protective practices. By caring for both the physical and energetic body through mindful nourishment and connection with the natural world, we support our innate ability to heal, adapt, remain balanced, and thrive throughout life’s many experiences.

Our journey with these plants is continually evolving. This collection is likely far from complete (and some are still in the younger stages), as we are always learning from the incredible diversity of life growing around us in the tropics. Each plant carries its own story, wisdom, and traditional uses, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside these remarkable living beings. As our knowledge deepens through experience, observation, and study, we hope to continue sharing that journey with you. In time, we aim to provide more detailed information about each plant, tree, herb, and fruit as this living library continues to grow and evolve.
